Rethinking Leadership, Networking and Lollipop Moments

On January 8, 2011, I participated in my first-ever UBC Student Leadership Conference (SLC). The SLC is a one-day, student-organized conference at UBC that connects student leaders with alumni and motivational speakers.

The theme was “Rethinking Leadership,” and the conference was very successful at presenting different perspectives on what the word leadership means.

Delete Checker?

A description of Delete Checker, a Facebook application, came up this morning on my mini-feed:

“Delete Checker keeps track of which friends deleted you on Facebook. It also keeps track of when friends deactivate their account or someone ignores your friend request. You can setup Delete Checker to post insults about deleted friends to your wall.”

This new application is not only petty, it promotes hatred and gossip. Given the fact that anyone can create a Facebook application, I wouldn’t be surprised if others of this nature exist.
